When Mathew was born on September 21 his parents were very thankful, since they hadn’t been able to conceive a child the other
times they had tried. He was a blessing the Lord had granted them with. As a baby he never cried and was never fussy, babysitters always said he was a pleasure to baby sit. Growing up Mathew’s parents were both really religious and so he was brought up being the same way.

In school Mathew was always one of the more popular kids. He had a lot of friends and all the teachers loved him. No one disliked him and never picked on anyone when they saw him around. When Mathew would see someone getting picked on by bullies he would go and stick up for them. At the age of 13, Mathew started to realize that there was something different about him. All the other boys were starting to crush on the girls, while he started to crush on the boys. The day he realized his true sexuality he immediately told his parents. Even though they were both very religious they knew God had created him this way for a reason and they respected that Mathew was able to tell them.

At school no one bugged him about liking the guys. He was actually the most liked guy in school. Never looking down at anybody, he hung out with everyone. Even the kids everyone thought were ugly, nerdy, freaks, losers and loners. Everything was going well for him.

When he was 14, his schools football team, the Frogs, was playing against the Sharks. It was a full on game. Not one moment was less exciting. In the end the Frogs won 3-1. After having a great night, Mathew, his dad, his boyfriend and two other friends were driving back to Mathew’s house to hang out. On the way they were hit by a drunk driver. Mathew’s head smashed against the window and he was knocked out. Walking up moments later, Mathew unrolled his window and crawled out, making sure he had his cell with him. He first called 911, then his mother. Waiting outside the car not being baring to look at it, he waited for his mother and the police to arrive. Once they got there Mathew rushed towards his mother but was ignored as she rushed past him and started screaming and crying at the site of the car. Mathew walked up beside her and saw his body lying in the car still. At the site Mathew blacked out and awoke 2 weeks later in a hospital bed.

When he woke his mother told him that his boyfriend and two friends were all killed in the accident. He and his father were both lucky enough to keep there lives. Mathew was only upset for a bit but soon realized that it was all in Gods plan and they were going to be treated well and happy in heaven. His mother also explained that when the crash happened his cell phone called her house but alls she could hear was fire and a man screaming, which turned out to be the drunk driver. His mother had panicked and called the police who told her that they got the same call, with the same sounds.

A year after the crash Mathew was lying in bed sleeping when a sound awoke him from his slumber. He walked quietly down to the kitchen to find a man in black with a gun. Mathew quickly shot his hands up into the air and said calmly, “God will forgive you for killing me.” The thief didn’t take notice to him but kept taking some of their valuables. Not thinking Mathew jumped at the thief but went right threw him. Panicking he raced back down the hall and started screaming trying to wake up his parents. Nothing happened. Thinking quickly Mathew turned on the tap loud enough for it to wake his parents but not loud enough for the thief to hear. Once they awoke he turned off the tap allowing his parents to hear the thief in the kitchen. They quickly called 911. His father then got out of bed and started walking towards the door, telling Mrs. Palmer that he was going to see what he could do. Not wanting his dad to get shot Mathew quickly ran out the door and grabbed hold of the handle bar so he couldn’t leave the room. His parents took that as a sign from God that he should not go down the hall. Once the police arrived and arrested the thief Mathew walked back into his bedroom once again to find his body lying in his bed. Seeing his body he blacked out and awoke in the morning.

Wondering what was wrong with him, Mathew went to his church to confession. It had been a while since his last one and he needed to speak with the priest.

The priest knew Mathew very well and was glad to see him. When he noticed that he didn’t have his usual smile he questioned what was wrong. Mathew said his confessions then asked the father for help. Once Mathew explained every thing to the priest, the priest nodded and told him that God must have blessed him with a unique gift and that he had a very special plan for him. The priest also told him that he should not be afraid to use his gift to help those in need. Mathew thanked the priest and then went home and told his parents. They were speechless. Mathew then told them that he wanted to go somewhere that could help him with his gift so that he could fulfill what God had granted him with.

Agreeing his parents then went out in search of a school for kids with special abilities. They found the Lunar Academy. They knew God had chosen a difficult path for their son, but he was doing the best job he could in fulfilling what was asked of him.
